Lilly Library: Jerry Slocum Mechanical Puzzle Collection

The Jerry Slocum Collection of Mechanical Puzzles embodies a lifetime pursuit of the intriguing and the perplexing. The result is the largest assemblage of its kind in the world, with over 35,000 puzzle. The mechanical puzzles in the collection range from Victorian era amusements to innovative designs made with laser cutters and 3D printing to create their designs. Learn about the different types of mechanical puzzles and the different challenges each pose.

Puzzles from our hands-on collection will be at the booth for attendees to solve along with a group of 3D printed hands-on puzzles for attendees to try as well. Hear from the Lilly Library’s Curator of Puzzles about how puzzle designers develop their deviously difficult creations, and just maybe find a new idea for your next project.

2DyeCru

2DyeCru dyes yarn with all natural plant dyes. Our dyes are made from locally harvested plants or other sustainable sources. Our yarn is similarly sustainably sourced, some locally from Indiana and some from small mills in Missouri, Canada, and England. We also process and spin our own yarn as well as knitting and crocheting with it, which involves us in every step of the yarn-making process, from sheep to project.
